"The drawn-looking Maryanne (Annette O'Toole) and her 17-year-old son, Dennis (Christopher Denham), have come to the big city to escape the dark shadows dogging them in the form of Maryanne's cancer and the descent into gambling addiction of her husband, Dennis' father. With some help from a generous relative, they've checked into a generic hotel room in Midtown (realized with spirit-sapping authenticity by the set designer Lauren Helpern)."
